I thought the blackout that crippled my progress on page 19 of the Letter was bad. I knew nothing. I had page 20 penciled and inked in one night, DAYS and days ago. Why is it only finished now? That would be because no matter what I did, Photoshop ate it. Oh, I checked resolution. I messed around with the location of the scratch disc. I freed up 20 gigs on my hard drive. I deleted all the files in my temp directory. I uninstalled and reinstalled. I deleted and rebuilt the hidden Presets file. I defragged, checked and scanned my disc (multiple times). I changed the RAM allotment...I did it all, in short.

And still I had to scrap the entire file once...and redo it two more times.

Because even after all this it crashed my computer, crashing it badly enough once to irrevocably damage the file. Yeah, I lost about 5 hours of work and then probably experienced about 3 more extra hours in addition to however long it would have normally taken to do everything because I had to proceed with extreme caution to keep crashing to a minimum. I finally finished it tonight with a mere three crashes. >_<

I will say though that after all that this page makes my eyes sparkle with happiness. Almost no text, and a lot more detail than many of my other pages. I'm fond of it and I don't regret getting the godforsaken thing done.
